Functional Anatomy of the Neck & Shoulders — with Abby Dobbs

  • Santa Fe Thrive 947 West Alameda Street Santa Fe, NM, 87501 United States (map)

The shoulder joint is the most mobile joint in the human body—but this incredible range of motion comes at the cost of stability. Without a strong foundation, it is all too common to experience discomfort or injury in the shoulders, neck, elbows, or wrists.

In this in-depth and accessible workshop, Abby Dobbs will guide you through the essential anatomy and functional movement of the shoulder girdle. You will begin with a focused lecture and guided self-exploration to identify key muscles, bones, and articulations, building a deeper awareness of how your shoulders function and how to support them with care.

From there, you will move through a full yoga practice that integrates this anatomical understanding into breath and movement. With Abby’s thoughtful instruction, you will explore actions within familiar poses that promote both strength and spaciousness in the shoulders.

Whether you are experiencing chronic shoulder tension, recovering from injury, or simply seeking to refine your practice, this workshop will offer you practical tools to cultivate longevity, resilience, and ease in your upper body—on and off the mat.
